D.A. Weibring

D.A. Weibring recognition

In the 150-plus-year history of Illinois State there have been only a few individuals who have distinguished themselves as student-athletes, not just during their time at Illinois State, but in the years that have ensued. D.A. Weibring is one of those individuals. D.A. has represented Illinois State University to the highest level on-and-off the course, in both his college and professional golf careers.

During Weibring’s time at Illinois State, the Redbirds finished first in 13 tournaments and second in 15 others. D.A. earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 1972 and again with the team in 1975. Weibring has continued his career on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour earning 13 victories including the 2008 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship.

D.A. has remained an active and loyal supporter of Illinois State helping to raise more than $1.4 million for the Redbird men’s and women’s golf teams. In 2000-2001, his firm, Weibring/Wolfard Golf Design, designed and directed the renovation of the University Golf Course.

On September 7, 2007, the University Golf Course was renamed the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in recognition of D.A. Weibring’s commitment and contribution to Redbird Athletics and his achievements as a member of the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA).
